Best Hope for the Hawks: Al Horford

Staff Pick

Is there hope for the Hawks? They made the playoffs for the first time in forever this year and took the eventual champions to the brink in the first round. Who can forget the electricity that pumped through Philips Arena during Game 6? But with every step forward, the team takes two steps back. The Hawks have made a lot of stupid moves over the past 10 years, the latest of which was allowing Josh Childress to flee to Greece. But the one thing the Hawks did right came last year: choosing AL HORFORD as the league’s third draft pick. Horford is Mr. Consistency. Every game, you knew he was going to contribute double digits in points and rebounds, and play strong defense. Even as a rookie, he used his University of Florida championship pedigree to become a team leader. If the Atlanta Hawks have a future, Horford needs to be part of it.
