We keep looking, but, year after year, nothing comes really close to Narenda Patel’s MADRAS SARAVANA BHAVAN. There isn’t a thing on the South Indian vegetarian menu we wouldn’t recommend. Even something as simple as crunchy puries into which you spoon some mint sauce is heavenly. Everyone loves the dosai — huge rice-flour crepes available with a variety of stuffings. A thali meal allows you to sample a number of dishes. We suggest you let yourself go crazy with the condiments and sauces to experience the real breadth of this cuisine. Go early or wait long.
