Moms helping their kids learn to hold chopsticks have replaced the Japanese ex-pats, but the food at HARU ICHIBAN has retained its inventive edge. Sushi rolls are filled with crunchy, creamy tidbits and the teriyaki dishes are fine, but what's really special here are the fusion-fueled, tapas dishes like delicate shrimp dumplings or oysters breaded in panko (Japanese breadcrumbs). Look to the specials page on the left side of the menu for the latest creations the kitchen has dreamed up. For Atlantans in love with the small plate craze, this place is worth a special trek from intown.
