For an invigorating run on a quiet, shady, nearly traffic-free trail, hit the asphalt paths of the OAKLAND CEMETERY.
The 88-acre site is the third-largest greenspace in Atlanta, and we do mean green. This last resting place for 70,000 souls is thick with ancient magnolias and oaks, hence its name. The 2.5-mile paved trail provides a heart-pumping workout as its rolling terrain rises more than 60 feet in elevation in some places. Six Georgia governors and five Confederate generals, as well as the remains of a 125-year-old slave named Bosan, are buried there.
