Best Local Modern Rock Band

After experiencing an all-too-typical major-label horror story a few years back, pop-punk quartet Ultrababyfat could've taken the typical route and simply broken up, defeated by having come so far for nothing. Instead, they regrouped, solidified their local base and bounced back this year with an indie record, Eight Balls in Reverse, that's surprisingly vibrant for a band that's been at it as long as they have. In fact, it pushed them straight back into national consciousness and out on the Warped Tour. As the country wakes up to what it missed last time, the locals know this comeback couldn't have happened to nicer folks.
