If you leave Nouvelle Nail Spa and don't desperately want to own one of its pedicure chairs, you are an enemy of comfort. Eschewing the standard nail salon massage chairs — which, let's be honest, tend to feel more like torture than a "massage" — Nouvelle opts instead for ergonomic lounge chairs that bring your knees up to head-level and sap all the pressure and stress from your aching feet. The spa's interior is all exposed brick and minimalist design — no circa-'86 mirrored wall art here. Manicures include a virtually indestructible polish job, seasonal aromatherapy (last winter, it was something delicious and pumpkin-y) and a nice, long hand massage. Nouvelle's enormous collection of polish options is meticulously organized by brand and shade, making the selection process a lot less likely to induce panic. For the spontaneous among us, keep in mind Nouvelle recommends that you make an appointment in advance.
