Best Middle Eastern: Falafel Café

Staff Pick

The name might confuse you, so let’s get straight to the point: FALAFEL CAFÉ isn’t really about falafel. Sure, the unassuming space hidden among a jumble of drab strip malls has falafel on the menu. But you didn’t drive to Cobb Parkway for that. Rather, it’s the call of silky, sultry, riotously delicious Persian food that you’re answering. The most seductive of the restaurant’s sirens are the stews, and the standout among them is the fesenjan, a pomegranate-walnut concoction that’s better than any imitator in town. The aash-e jow, a cream-of-barley soup, is the ultimate comfort food. And the warm reception from owner Reza Gharaat and his staff more than makes up for the no-frills ambiance. 950 Cobb Parkway, Marietta. 770-429-8999.
