Best New Local Band

Representing the current wave of rock music without directly copying it, THE HISS embodies the spirit of the bands they love. The Strokes, The Vines and their entire ilk have a new brother on the block. The Hiss' live shows are energetic and their songs are pretty damn catchy in a crunchy Stones and MC5 kinda way. There's none of that post-grunge groaning and there's not a bald guy with a soul patch in the lot. Definitely ready for the next step up, The Hiss shake, rattle and roll out a cool, serpentine sound with enough venom to keep it interesting. You can dance if you want to!
