You might say there are three distinct camps of onion ring eaters. Some like the big loaves that require you to tear off bits of onion in strings. Some like the limp, ropy style you tend to find at The Varsity. And others prefer The Earl's approach, where the beer-batter fried rings arrive in hot, crispy hoops that prove rich in flavor and substantial in body. It's not that the other rings aren't good, it's just that The Earl's are more proud and assertive.
