So much hype surrounded ATLANTIC STATION before it opened that a letdown was inevitable. Presented to Atlantans as a monument of new urbanism, upon arrival it struck many as a soulless, Lenox-you-can-drive-through McCity. But before Atlantic Station, dear intowners, think about how far you had to drive to get to a Target or Banana Republic. Remember that Atlantic Station more than doubled the number of movie screens in the middle of town. Consider how much worse traffic and pollution would be if the 5,000 homes at Atlantic Station were scattered around the ‘burbs. And don’t forget the two most important things about Atlantic Station: IKEA and H&M.
