1492 Piedmont Ave.
Warning! This is a popular gay bar at Ansley Square but on Sundays, it attracts a growing number of straight people because of the rather outre event that follows the free buffet that starts at 4:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., Morticia Deville and a small cast present the Atlanta Gospel Hour -- basically a rollicking performance of traditional gospel music by drag queens. The buffet, prepared by Michael Turner, owner of Southern Affairs Catering, is surprisingly generous. Although it sometimes resembles a Pentecostal (but tasty) spaghetti dinner, just as often it can feature flawless seasoned and grilled pork chops with good veggies. Can we have an amen?
