The way we heard it, EPIPHANY was originally supposed to be a small, simple piece, something easy to keep the Ballethnic Dance Company occupied while old standby The Leopard’s Tale went into dry dock for repairs. Then they added in the Full Circle Jazz Band, the Shaw Temple A.M.E. Mass Choir, gospel vocalist Najuma, and the senior citizen dancers from the H.J.C. Bowden Senior Center. There was nothing small or simple about it, but we were shouting out hallelujahs for this whole village of a happening.
