If any evil-doers have it in for the DeKalb CEO, then VERNON JONES' GUYS are sure to thwart their nefarious plans. They'd better; taxpayers have shelled out $250,000 a year in police salaries and overtime pay to keep Jones snug and safe. Jones has defended the near-24/7 security detail by pointing out that the county's former sheriff had his political rival killed for taking his job away. Plus, some New York alderman got shot up this past summer. We also would bet that if Harvey Milk had had his own Secret Service squadron, he'd be alive today.
