Best Theater Company

The 2002-03 season was good artistically for DAD'S GARAGE THEATRE, featuring two of the company's best-ever shows: 43 Plays About 43 Presidents and Bat Boy: The Musical. It also established the young, scrappy Inman Park theater as a lightning rod for creative commitment, goofy energy and unusual attention. Jimmy Carter himself attended 43 Presidents, while Archie Comics sent a cease-and-desist letter for the satire Archie's Weird Fantasy (reworked as Weird Comic Book Fantasy). The summer's late-night improvised play The Kobe Bryant Project debuted only days before the basketball player's legal troubles broke. In showing audiences a good time, Dad's Garage has been ahead of the curve.
