In mere months, Sam Governale has turned the new MIDCITY CUISINE
into a sophisticated drinking destination with his witty, thorough wine list. There's truly something for everyone -- affordable Merlots and Chardonnays for the common imbiber, a substantial collection of half-bottles for the lone wine geek and eyebrow-raising, esoteric grapes for the curious and daring. The list is a good read if solely to pick out the wacky names of some of the bottles, including "Blue Tooth," "Wild Ferment" and "The Hussy." And in a truly inspired move, Governale has selected four incredibly food-friendly vintages to be served by the carafe or half-carafe (each under $30 and $16, respectively). Bottoms up!
