Books: John W. Dean

Mon., Sept. 17

According to author JOHN W. DEAN, the Bush administration's cumulative misdeeds are more grievous than the Watergate break-in and cover-ups that drove Nixon from office in 1974. Dean should know – he was Nixon's White House counsel at the time and convicted of multiple felonies for his participation in Watergate. In this decade, Dean has become a public crusader against corrupt government. His latest book, Broken Government: How Republican Rule Destroyed the Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches, argues that the Republican Party's secrecy, corruption and sell-outs to special interests have, um, broken the government. Presented by Georgia Center for the Book and A Cappella Books, Dean reads from and signs Broken Government Mon., SEPT. 17, at the Jimmy Carter Library. Free. 7 p.m. 441 Freedom Parkway. 404-865-7100.
