The Wolfpack may feature several sousaphone players instead of wolves, but the group is just as fearsome as its name implies. The marching horn section can belt out everything from Flying Lotus covers to the Emperor’s Theme from Star Wars. Grammy-winning saxophonist Kebbi Williams is the alpha male, welding his emotive fusion of freeform jazz and hip-hop with the bite of the Wolfpack’s growling bass. On Fri., Aug. 22, the group pays tribute to fallen drummer and local music fixture drummer John Bowman. Psychedelic shoegazers Spirits and the Melchizedek Children act as the dreamy foil to the Wolf Pack’s ferocity.
