Bruce Springsteen plays Philips Arena

March 18, 2012 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band opened their North American tour at Philips Arena last night. Although this was the first official night of the tour, it was the third show Springsteen has played since the death of Clarence Clemons — the first at the Apollo Theater in New York and the second at South by Southwest in Austin last Thursday night. Although the SXSW show was in a 2500-seat venue, Springsteen brought the same energy to Philips Arena with a 24-song set that opened with "We Take Care of Our Own," and played hits like "Thunder Road" and "Born to Run," as well as songs from his new album, Wrecking Ball. Replacing Clarence Clemons was a five-piece horn section that included Jake Clemons, Clarence's nephew.
