Profile - Bryant Johnson

The man behind the keys at Hartsfield-Jackson

Bryant “Bronco” Johnson’s music has been heard by millions of people from all over the world. Johnson’s performed everywhere from hole-in-the-wall clubs to Music Midtown with Big Boi and Sleepy Brown. But his favorite place to stroke the keys is still the ATL airport, where he’s been playing almost daily since 1997. From classic rock to Beethoven or Bach, Johnson can play to any type of audience; but his solo CD, due out early next February, is heavily influenced by funk and hip-hop. Piano playing aside, working at the airport assures two things: You will always meet new people and you know how to travel. This holiday season, take some traveling advice from the airport piano man who’s seen it all:

During the holiday rush, get there at least three hours before the flight because security is going to be very backed up.

Don’t rely on airline food to satisfy your hunger; take advantage of the airport’s food court beforehand.

Don’t drink too much before the flight. Getting a little tipsy is OK, but police will get you if you’re flat-out drunk.

Wear something comfortable, but don’t get too bundled up because you might get overheated waiting in line for hours.

Walk around and mingle with the singles. A lot of matches have been made via the airport bar.
