Candler Park event coming back in 2001

The Candler Park/Lake Claire Festival, called off this year after organizers worried about financial losses if the weather turned sour, will return in 2001. The Candler Park Neighborhood Association will take over the festival from neighborhood businesswoman Beth Martin, who has organized the event for the past five years, says the CPNO's Debra Snell.

After the 2000 edition was canceled, the festival's future was in jeopardy. But enough volunteers stepped forward last week to begin planning a 2001 event. Some changes may be in the works, such as adding a theme or timing the festival to coincide with other neighborhood events like a 5K run or the Tour of Homes, Snell says.
