Channel Surfing

Some people say there’s nothing but crap on the radio, so we thought we’d do a non-emergency test of what Atlanta’s stations were broadcasting Thurs., Sept. 1, between 3:15 and 3:20 p.m. Here are the results of our quick scan so you can decide for yourselves.

??
1) PSA — On WRAS-FM (88.5), aka “the Voice of Georgia State University,” we hear the tail-end of a public service announcement for Missing and Exploited Children.

??
2) “Thirty-Three” — Smashing Pumpkins: Tuning to WNNX-FM (99.7), 99X continues “everything alternative” with this melancholy jam from the mid-1990s.

??
3) Commercial: Continuing up the dial to WVEE-FM (103.3), we catch V-103’s morning show host Frank Ski promoting previously viewed DVDs for Blockbuster.

??
4) “Just Like You” — Three Days Grace: On WBZY-FM (105.3), we find newcomer Clear Channel station “the Buzz,” also playing “everything alternative.” Or maybe it’s just “some stuff alternative.”

??
5) Commercial: Sliding up to WHTA-FM (107.9), we listen to promos for the upcoming Atlanta Football Classic during Emperor Searcy and Mizz Shyneka’s show on Hot 107.9.
