Chris Rose

A review of 1 Dead in Attic and a podcast interview with the author

1 Dead in Attic: After Katrina

Simon & Schuster

For shell-shocked New Orleanians returning from Hurricane Katrina to help rebuild their city, Times-Picayune columnist Chris Rose went from a celebrity star-gazer to a wounded and defiant voice of the people. This collection of his Pulitzer Prize-sharing columns conveys a journalist who was literally covering the story of his life, at times hilarious, sad, angry and even hopeful. While the rebuilding took its toll on the city, so did the coverage on the author, and at no point does Rose pull any punches in crying out for help, understanding, unity and progress.

Noon Sun., Sept. 2. Decatur Conference Auditorium.
