With ties to such colorful pop experimentalists as Gorillaz, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Sean Lennon, Cibo Matto’s post-modern sound is a delicate mix of J-pop, jazz, electronic, and ambient music. Originally formed in New York City in 1994 by Japanese expatriates Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori, Cibo Matto is bouncing back from a hiatus that lasted from 2002 to 2013, and will be in town on Mon., Feb. 17 — three days after releasing the group’s third LP, Hotel Valentine.
