Col. Bruce Hampton and the Madrid Express

When: Sat., Jan. 25, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $10
The inimitable, ineluctable, and inexhaustible Col. Bruce Hampton pilots the Madrid Express into the Red Light Café on Sat., Jan. 25. The concoction will include special guest Johnny Knapp whose résumé includes being the first person to master an accordion with a built-in synthesizer, and accompanying (on piano) Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. Hampton says, “We’ll be doing tunes from the ’40, ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, and none from the year 2003.” You heard it here, folks.
