Thanks, CL for covering our current budget challenges. Hooray to CL, Shook and Muller for openly discussing this issue. As the article pointed out the COO and CFO have informed me and the Council about the current challenges. With 2 years left in my term I expect to have ample time to address these problems and the strengthen the city's financial position just as we have tackled other tough problems like crumbling sewer, antiquated water system, numerous departmental overhauls, crime and the fifth runway delay. Serving as Mayor or as a Councilmember isn't for the fainthearted or thin skinned. Working hard and smart we'll tackle the budget challenges successfully.

Wow. I'm more shocked that the supposed political 'leaders' in this town actually profess to be 'shocked' rather than the actual accounting shortfall itself. People can say that there's no fraud going on with Atlanta's books, but as a native, I know that when it comes to this city and financial malfeasance, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then it's fraud and corruption. Same as it ever was. The only hope is to have a new regime take over the government in this city that is totally divorced from the old corrupt Maynard Jackson era. I'm still not holding my breath. Hey, where's the Madam Mayor anyway? On another ski trip with her grandkids? sheesh.
