Creamy to the max

THE DIGS: Max Lager's American Grill & Brewery, 320 Peachtree St. 404-525-4400. www.maxlagers.com.

THE DRINK: Max Lager Cream Ale

MIXOLOGY: Cream ale - an indigenously American offshoot of light lager - is a pale gold, lightly carbonated microbrew. A summery addition to the brewpub's lineup, Max Lager's variation features floral and citrus aromas with a balancing, nectarine/plum zing to anchor the bitter hops.

VIBE: Like a lumberyard canteen, carved from a brick warehouse on the edge of downtown, Max Lager's offers bites and brews to visiting convention-goers. And if locals Max out on cream ale, there's always a hotel nearby.
