After disbanding their hyper-subversive post-hardcore quartet the Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, vocalist Brandon Welchez and guitarist Charles Rowell formed Crocodiles in 2008. Breaking away the Plot’s anarchic, jazz-influenced madness, Crocodiles offer a honeyed taste of stylish darkness; all that remains of their previous incarnation are the sunglasses and tambourines. On its latest album, Crimes of Passion (Frenchkiss Records), the duo presents a dark take on shimmying psychedelic pop.
