Damien Jurado

When: Wed., May 23, 8:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $10
A fixture on the Seattle folk scene since the mid-'90s, singer/songwriter Damien Jurado has undergone a stunning late-career renaissance over the course of his last two albums. With the assistance of multitalented producer and musician Richard Swift, this year's Maraqopa is a blessed and beautiful collection of tunes that explores longtime Jurado themes such as loss and alienation. Like 2010's Saint Bartlett, the record exists on a grander and more extroverted wavelength than the singer's reticent early work.
