The recipe for step dancing calls for an elaborate combination of clapping and stomping, with an optional dash of drill-team moves, hip-hop, theatrics and acrobatics. When you create a step competition between fraternity and sorority alumni and throw in cash prizes, the pot really begins to boil. On Sat., MARCH 7, the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority presents the EIGHTH ANNUAL ALL-ALUMNI STEP SHOW at the Georgia World Congress Center to raise scholarship money. Teams will be judged on coordination, energy, vocal clarity (shouting is often involved), creativity and ability to portray this year's occupation-focused theme: "Stepping Is Hard Work." The family-friendly event will host vendors, concessions, a cash bar and an after-party. $25-$35. 7 p.m. Georgia Ballroom, 285 Andrew Young International Blvd. 678-296-1637. www.smlacdst.org.
