Dashboard CO-OP presents 'Ground Floor'
October 9, 2011
October 9, 2011 - This year's new round of Dashboard CO-OP artists displayed their talents in five vacant buildings on Edgewood Avenue at 'Ground Floor', an exhibition that challenged the artists to create site specific-works while touching on notions of self and society. The cooperative's mission was to take the first steps in revitalizing the neighborhood by engaging the public in contemporary art. The exhibiting artists include: P Seth Thompson, Iman Person, Justin Rabideau, Nathan Sharratt, Henry Detweiler, Nikita Gale, Aubrey Edwards, and Lee Deigaard.

Exhibiting artist Henry Detweiler stands before what once was St. Level Records, and now his make-shift gallery showcasing a multimedium instillation "Something This Domestic Requires Whisky." When entering the gallery one steps into what Detweiler calls 'an anologue version of Tennessee Williams." The decadent self-portraits, embelished paitnings, and looping memories playing on Mother's old television set creates a true Southern Gothic feeling.
