Started by Jay Reatard, Ryan Rousseau (Reatards), and Alicja Trout (Lost Sounds, Black Sunday) as a synth-punk project, the concept was resurrected by Rousseau after Jay’s passing. The group’s sound is a free-flowing psychedelic tribute to post-punk in the vein of Suicide and the 13th Floor Elevators. With spaced-out riffs and grinding washes of wah-wah pedal amplified through three guitars playing simultaneously, the group’s most recent evolutionary step is heard throughout Deep Trip, an album showcasing the band as a brute force in modern punk.
