From the venue:

Malaysian percussion ensemble Diplomats of Drum brings its self-proclaimed “music without borders” to Atlanta for one night only. The group’s name accurately encapsulates both its fusion of sounds from around the globe — from traditional Malay folk to guitar-driven soul to southeast Asian hip-hop — and its thundering drum line, beating Bangla, African, and Latin-influenced rhythms. Formed in Kuala Lumpur by street performers in 2005, Diplomats of Drum has grown to include 17 members of who practice a variety of religions, and who come from all 13 Malaysian states. The group represents a diverse blend of musical styles not only from all over Malaysia but from around the world, incorporating instruments such as the Malaysian sape and the traditionally Indian sitar. The Diplomats of Drum brings its music to Atlanta as part of an international cultural exchange program, Caravanserai: A Place Where Cultures Meet, which aims to bring increased awareness of the modern diversity of Muslim cultures to America.
