Three-time Oscar-nominated director Norman Jewison might be most famous for such socially relevant films as 1967's In the Heat of the Night and 1984's A Soldier's Story as well as the film versions of Broadway musicals Fiddler on the Roof and Jesus Christ Superstar. He's had an incredibly versatile career, which will serve as the focus of Turner Classic Movies' latest episode of "Private Screenings," hosted by Robert Osborne Thursday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. – followed by screenings of some of his best films.
Check out CL's podcast interview with Jewison, who discusses his career and the challenge of making movies with social themes that also could be successful at the box office.
