Theater

On Aug. 2, Theater of the Stars brings to town EVITA, the story of the 20th century’s original material girl. Best remembered for her decadently lavish lifestyle in the face of devastating national poverty, Eva Peròn was adored by Argentina’s working class who thought of its first lady as a revolutionary and a woman of the people. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning saga offers a glamorized exploration of the provocateur’s life, with Argentina’s mid-century class struggles and revolution taking a supporting role. $20-$59. Fri.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sat.-Sun., 2 p.m.; Sun., 7:30 p.m. Through Aug. 7. The Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. 404-817-8700. www.theaterofthestars.com.
