Echoing the sounds of Parliament and the rest of the psychedelic ’70s, Dumpstaphunk returns Thurs., Sept. 5, with its acclaimed New Orleans jazz grooves. It's been a decade since vocalist Ivan Neville — son of Aaron Neville —formed the group for the 2003 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Since then, Dumpstaphunk’s intricate rhythms, driven by two killer bassists, have defined the band as a retro-soul heavyweight, especially with this summer’s release of Dirty Word (Red Hot Records). Get ready to get down.
