Bar Review - Fadó Irish Pub

Fadó may be an upscale Epcot version of an Irish neighborhood pub, but for many Atlantans, it’s the closest they will ever come to the Emerald Isle. So Buckhead bar-hoppers and British football fans have justly been celebrating the pub’s grand reopening. The original Fadó opened in 1996, but it was torn down to make way for multimillion-dollar condos. After a brief stint in a temporary location, Fadó opened its new, permanent bar just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. The interior, built in Dublin and shipped over here, suggests a hunting lodge, but the vintage memorabilia screams “Erin Go Bragh.”

On a recent Friday night, the line to get in stretched down the block well past midnight. Inside the crowds were crazy, but service was as good as it gets. Bartenders remembered not only the drink last ordered but the name on the tab. The music may be more Brit pop than “Danny Boy,” and the SEC football fans may outnumber the European kind. But with a new location and a new, flagstoned rooftop deck, one imagines the “new” Fadó will become quite the warm-weather hangout, even if the view is just a construction site.
