The Plaza Theatre's resurrection from a decrepit Ponce de Leon institution to a revitalized decrepit, retro-centric venue has been a thing to behold. And because the rise of indie filmmaking in Atlanta can't be celebrated without also celebrating the foundation all cinema rests on – silent film, classic horror, B-movies and shlock – the Plaza hosts the SILVER SCREAM SPOOK SHOW the last weekend of every month. A return to the '50s phenomenon of live stage shows mixed in with horror classics, the Sat., APRIL 28, show features 1954's Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3-D. Atlanta's own Professor Morte (that's Doctor Death to you and me) and his burlesque honeys also make the scene. With free 3-D glasses and a humanoid amphibious fish coming 'atcha, this is one show you don't want to miss. Free-$10. 1 and 10 p.m. 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave. 404-873-1939. www.plazaatlanta.com.
