See & Do - Film: Silver Scream Spook Show October 24 2007

Two generations of exploitation filmmakers dish up their versions of scary at the Plaza Theatre this Halloween. On Sat., OCT. 27, the Silver Scream Spook Show gang presents D-movie kingpin Ed Wood’s creaky classic PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE (1959; pictured), featuring a posthumous performance by Bela Lugosi in footage that Wood inserted into his sci-fi opus. On Halloween eve Tues., OCT. 30, gore hounds can enjoy the old-school answer to today’s torture porn, Herschell Gordon Lewis’ 1963 BLOOD FEAST, featuring a Playmate and oodles of blood, part of the Plaza’s new monthly Splatter Cinema. Both movies repeat on Wed., OCT. 31. Sat., 1 p.m. show: free-$6, 10 p.m. show: $10; Tues., $8.50. 10 p.m.; Wed., $7.50-$13.
