See & Do - FRIDAY/14 Issue Date December 12 2001

ATLANTA CELTIC CHRISTMAS CONCERT — For the ninth straight year, Irish, Welsh, Scottish and associated Southern traditions are explored in a seasonal setting with music, song, dance, story and theater. Scottish piping and the highland fling will feature alongside local regulars the Buddy O’Reilly Band, Irish tenor James Flannery and Gateway Christmas Mummers, as well as harper Kelly Stewart, fiddlers Barbara Panter and Maura Nelligan, and Appalachian folk group Nonesuch. A special item this year is an interpretation of Yeats’ poem “The Magi” about the quest for renewal, which is particularly relevant in the face of Sept. 11. Glenn Memorial Chapel/Emory (Falstaff)

ComedyNo matter what BOBCAT GOLDTHWAIT does, his voice gives him away. Known for his multi-octave range, he’s always seemed more of a caricature than an actual person. His Police Academy role may be the first thing that comes to mind for many, but the comedian has gone on to direct sitcoms and music videos, and he’s lent his voice to numerous cartoon characters. Looking a little like Billy Bob Thornton these days, Bobcat takes the stage in Atlanta DEC. 14-15 armed with his unpredictable wit. $20. Fri.-Sat., 8 and 10:30 p.m. The Punchline, 290 Hilderbrand Drive, Sandy Springs. 404-252-5233. — Jerry Portwood
