Georgia Old-Time Fiddlers Conventions: A Centennial Celebration

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Georgia Old-Time Fiddlers Conventions, Georgia State University Special Collections & Archives highlights their importance in the development of country music. Guest speakers include Wayne Daniel, author of Pickin' on Peachtree: A History of Country Music in Atlanta, Georgia; Kevin Fontenot, co-editor of the forthcoming North of the Ohio: Northern Fiddlers & Stringbands of the 1920s; and Steve Goodson, author of Highbrows, Hillbillies, & Hellfire: Public Entertainment in Atlanta, 1880-1930. There will also be an educational workshop led by James Akenson from Tennessee Tech University and music by Georgia Crackers and the Skillet Lickers.
