Georgia Symphony Orchestra

When: Nov. 12-13, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $81-$153
The Georgia Symphony Orchestra takes on one monster of minimalism when it performs Philip Glass' Symphony No. 4, "Heroes." Associate conductor Grant Harville leads GSO through Glass' 1996 merger of David Bowie and Brian Eno's pop arrangements, as he straddles a nebulous musical and cultural void while expanding upon Bowie/Eno's already deep layers of sound. After a brief intermission, director Michael Alexander leads the GSO and chorus through a performance of 19th-century Czech composer AntonĂn Dvorak's illustrious "Te Deum."
