Ghost in the operatic machine

Pro: He's a really effective opera voice coach who will do anything to get his protégé the lead role she so richly deserves, and he knows how to wear a mask. Con: He spends a lot of time playing with his organ in an underground lair below the Paris Opera House. Oh, and when people disagree with his artistic decisions, he kills them. Phantom of the Opera returns to haunt the Fox Theatre Aug. 31. (P.S. Watch out for the chandelier.) $17-$62. Tues.-Fri., 8 p.m.; Sat., 2 and 8 p.m.; Sun., 1 and 6:30 p.m. Through Sept. 25. 660 Peachtree St. 404-817-8700.
