Few Americans have heard of GOOGOOSH. (The authoritative music database www.allmusic.com doesn't even have a proper entry on her.) But among Iranians she is a pop idol, a diva on the scale of Celine Dion or Madonna. Since the '60s, Googoosh has scored numerous Persian hits, many of which had surprisingly Western arrangements, and has acted in dozens of films. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 ended her career for more than two decades until she finally emigrated to the West in 2000. Now based in California, she performs frequently for Iranian immigrants, who will undoubtedly turn out for her Sat., JAN. 13, concert at the Atlanta Civic Center. Iranian singer Mehrdad Asemani opens. $55-$200. 8 p.m. 395 Piedmont Ave. 404-523-6275. www.atlantaciviccenter.com.
