Idle Warship (Talib Kweli and Res), Sa-Roc

When: Thu., Feb. 16, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $20-$25
Talib Kweli and Res were meant for each other. The former a conscious head who struggled to break free from the stylistic constraints of "underground hip-hop," the latter an unbridled singer/songwriter who successfully dodged the old neo-soul/R&B pigeonhole, neither has ever been particularly welcome on black radio. After teasing fans with 2010 mixtape, Party Robot, and random MP3s, they almost arrived too late to their own electro/alt-soul mashup-of-a-party with their first proper full-length, Habits of the Heart. But it's an unruly return to form.
