Inside the T-SPLOST vote

The history, impact, and politics of the Transportation Investment Act − and how you should vote

Atlanta T-SPLOST vote - July 31, 2012

On July 31, voters in Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Clayton, and other metro Atlanta counties will visit the polls to decide the city's transportation future. The Transportation Investment Act, nicknamed T-SPLOST, is a 157-project list that proponents say will help alleviate the area's transportation woes. Opponents say its mix of funding (about half to road projects, about half to transit) and questionable oversight structure are only a few of its many flaws. In this issue, Creative Loafing TAKES a deeper look at the good and bad parts of the objectively unwieldy, messy referendum, and reveals whether we think voters should ultimately say yes or no to the T-SPLOST.
