Destiny: Fall fashion in Atlanta is usually a year behind. For some reason, it goes from New York to Miami to Atlanta. But I'm a season ahead. My hair is too much for Atlanta. But we're fashionable. You can mix your seasons together a little bit more here than anywhere else. You can do the miniskirt year-round. Hopefully they'll put the [shirt] collar down here. You know how a dog can't lick his wounds, so he gets that thing around his head? That's what that collar looks like around here.
Lara: Yes. People spend a lot of money to look good. It's a working town, so you've got to look good in this town. Atlanta is a competitive work environment -- cliquish and therefore trendy. As far as following New York, New York follows Paris, so fuck you. Atlanta carries mostly everything New York carries, but we don't have the cheap boutiques on the corner where you get a leather jacket for 50 bucks, and then in a year it starts smelling like dead fish.
Ryan: We have a very vibrant alternative scene in Atlanta. Good music, which Atlanta has a lot of, helps drive the culture and fashion. A lot of black, of course, but I have noticed a trend for more white. People notice that it makes them stand out a little bit more if everyone is wearing black. Lots of hair extensions. We set our own trends. People who think we follow New York need to come down here and take a look and see that we definitely have our own sense of fashion. I think they would be impressed.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Stop being so racist and sexist, no-hyphens.
