Press kits, boy do we get press kits! But none like the one sent to us last week by N.C.-based band Perfo. The recycled box came stenciled and filled with Styrofoam peanuts. Deep inside was this rumpled brown paper bag, which contained a cigarette (thanks!), an expired condom (bastards!), a cloisonne bead, a Christmas tree lightbulb and a few other sundry things. There also were a couple snapshots of the band — including one in drag — and a CD called Church Music, Moonpies & Pennywhistles. Our favorite part, though, was the hand-drawn “obligatory band pic.” Oh yeah, Perfo plays the Star Bar on March 16. For more, visit www.myspace.com/perfo.
