Bar Review - It ain’t so hard being green

Ever wonder what the promised Zen experience of green tea ought to feel like? Between the caffeine and the antioxidants, it’s certainly good for an afternoon jolt, but seems a far cry from the Buddha-like calm that Celestial Seasonings and Tazo boxes claim it imparts.

Enter the Inman Park Patio’s green tea martini ($9). Made with a healthy shot of freshly brewed green tea and a strong dose of Absolut Citron, the cocktail offers just the right blend of spirits and elixir to remove you from the daily grind and keep you going for the rest of the evening. A smidgen of simple syrup tempers the bitterness of the tea and alcohol.

Despite a loungey drink list replete with other swanky martinis and cocktails, the Patio’s bar has a clientele as approachable as its menu of Italian pizzas and pasta. After-work types sup at the bar, sipping simple glasses of wine or whiskey on the rocks, while younger scenesters and scene-stealers partake of other creative selections, including coconut mojitos and gimlets made with Grey Goose L’Orange. The Inman Park Patio, 1029 Edgewood Ave. 404-659-5757. www.inmanparkpatio.com.
