Since 1978, Jandek has operated in obscurity, churning out a myriad of recordings for his self-run Corwood Industries label. He has granted only one interview, and provided virtually no insight into his identity or background; other than a P.O. box and the same face plastered across scores of album covers. He creates a void where there should be a persona driving the music, prompting listeners to fill in the blanks on their own, and any semblance of character or circumstance that emerges is purely a construct of the beholder. For this Athens performance Jandek will be backed by a group of players featuring Heather McIntosh (the Instruments, Gnarls Barkley) playing cello, Eric Harris (Elf Power, Olivia Tremor Control) on drums, John Fernandes (Olivia Tremor Control, Circulatory System) playing bass clarinet and violin, and Bradford Cox (Deerhunter, Atlas Sound) playing guitar.
