Imagine It! Children’s Museum executive director

As executive director of Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Jane Turner put aside a 15-year career in the corporate world to focus on ways to enhance how children play, learn and develop. She offers five suggestions that promise fun for children of all ages.

1) Theatrical Outfit’s “Reader’s Theatre”: “I can’t wait to see Tom Key read Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory” and “The Thanksgiving Visitor” for the holidays. I love the way he creates a theatrical experience through the simple act of reading aloud, which encourages us to use our imaginations and to listen.”

2) Zoo Atlanta: “If you have children, take them to see the baby panda before it grows up. What a gift!”

3) Black Swan Green by David Mitchell: “I was enchanted by this book about a year in the life of a 13-year-old boy, written from his perspective. It is funny, magical, sad and sweet.”

4) Ice skating at Centennial Olympic Park: “I love to see Southerners ice skate (myself included), which makes for a wild, rollicking time outdoors, with the park, the Georgia Aquarium and the Children’s Museum as back-drops.”

5) Little Szechuan: “Located on Buford Highway in Doraville, this is my current favorite restaurant, providing more wonderful Chinese food than you can imagine, for almost any budget.”
